On Saturday night there was probably an act of desperation on the part of a mother in the city of the Danube. The woman called the police around 5:30 a.m. and said that she had killed her children and now wanted to take her own life. Officials immediately rushed to Am Lange Felde’s address and found two dead girls in the apartment, one eight months old and the other three years old. They also found a nine-year-old boy dead in the apartment. She still showed signs of life, so she was taken to hospital, where she also died shortly after.
The 31-year-old mother had already injured her wrist when the police arrived and had to be immobilized by the police. She is currently being examined by the doctor, but according to information from KURIER, her condition should be stable enough that she can still be questioned on Saturday.
Probably drowned
During an initial evaluation of the dead children, the medical examiner discovered that they were probably suffocated. Details on the causes of death will not be revealed until Saturday’s autopsy.
The children’s father lives separately from the family in an apartment in Vienna. It is still unclear why the mother should have killed her children. According to neighbor Johanna R., there should have been a violent argument between the parents about three weeks ago, after which the man should have been rejected. R. saw the father in the house afterwards. The couple is from Nepal and reportedly lived in Austria for 17 years.
