Today at 5 pm, the Constitutional Court plans to announce its decision to ban euthanasia. Specifically, it refers to articles 77 and 78 of the StGB: murder on demand and participation in suicides. As the KURIER learned beforehand, the Constitutional Court is likely to revoke the prohibition on participating in suicide.

The understanding will undoubtedly lead to heated discussions. Ecclesiastical circles or representatives of the disabled had already warned in advance about liberalization.

So recently doctors, pastors, psychotherapists, social workers and health workers from different institutions have addressed the members of the VfGH in a joint statement. One wants to bring constructive arguments to the debate from one’s own experience or practice with suffering and dying people, according to a broadcast from the initiative group on Monday. A central argument in him: “Human dignity cannot be reduced to self-determination.”
