Verdict: Alkolenker (19) sentenced to 16 months in prison and compensation for pain and suffering after an accident with two deaths

In Steyr, the 19-year-old driver said to have caused a momentous accident on April 19, 2020 near Adlwang (Steyr-Land district) was brought to trial on Wednesday.

The defendant is said to have driven the car too fast and with 0.96 per thousand alcohol in his blood when he lost control of the car. The car finally hit a tree. A 15-year-old and a 20-year-old who were in the car did not survive the accident. On Wednesday, the 19-year-old was sentenced to 16 months in prison, four of which are unconditional, in Steyr Regional Court for grossly negligent homicide. The defendant must also continue with his therapies, says in the sentence. They were also recognized by the court 15,000 euros in compensation for pain and suffering per parent and 8,000 euros for the deceased siblings. The verdict also includes a bodily injury charge by the Linz prosecutor: The 19-year-old is said to have had an argument with two girls in front of a nightclub on December 25, 2019, resulting in bodily injury.

Because both the Public Ministry and the defense are renouncing legal resources, the sentence is already final.
