A car driver from the Wels-Land district had a fatal accident in a traffic accident on Westautobahn (A1) in the Gmunden district on Monday afternoon. The police are urgently looking for witnesses to the accident.
According to the Upper Austrian police, the 25-year-old’s car skidded around 5 pm on the lane towards Salzburg in Laakirchen for an unexplained cause, hit a guardrail on the right edge of the lane and was then hit by a truck that was approached.
25-year-old dies at accident scene
The truck was driven by a 49-year-old man from the district of Baden in Lower Austria. A 68-year-old later driver from the Tyrolean district of Kufstein also collided with the car of the unfortunate 25-year-old driver. Despite resuscitation measures that were quickly initiated, he still died at the scene of the accident. He had been trapped under the truck and had to be released by the fire department.
Horror crash on A1: Witnesses wanted
The 68-year-old driver of the following car was slightly injured in the collision and was taken to the Salzkammergut Klinikum Vöcklabruck. The A1 was closed for approximately two hours in the area of the accident scene. The police ask witnesses to the accident to report to the Seewalchen motorway police station at 059133/4173.
