As soon as the PS5 was announced with price and release date, it was already out of stock for pre-order at many retailers. But unscrupulous resellers are already selling consoles on eBay for almost double the price.
What is the PS5 pre-sale all about? Due to an epic mess announcing pre-order, the PS5 was largely sold out shortly after the PlayStation 5 was revealed and many customers seemed angry and disappointed in the tube.
The fear of not getting a console for launch on November 19, 2020 is high among many fans. In order to capitalize on this “fear of missing something,” numerous resellers have already put the PS5 on pre-order on eBay. At partly absurd lunar prices!
800 to almost 1,000 euros for PlayStation 5 with disc
This is what is required on eBay: Some customers, who somehow got a PS5 upfront, are now selling it on eBay and expecting a great deal. If you currently (September 17, 2020) enter the term PlayStation 5 on eBay, there will be tons of deals with sometimes absurd prices.
- A seller offers the device for a price of 999.00 euros and also wants shipping costs of 5.99 euros.
- Another supplier wants “only” 900 euros and even generously forgoes shipping.
- The cheapest offers are still between 655 and 750 euros.
Only one seller offers the PS5 with a disc drive for 499 euros plus shipping. But that’s exactly the price a disc version of the PlayStation 5 would cost in regular stores anyway.
This is why these offers are not a good idea: If you really want a PS5 and haven’t received a pre-order, you still shouldn’t attack these eBay deals. For one thing, the asking prices exceed the console’s asking price by twice and ruin any price-performance ratio.
Additionally, there is already a fix for the Preoder disaster and select retailers will soon be able to offer consoles to pre-order again. For the usual price of 499.99 euros for the disk version and 399.99 euros for the unitless console. Also, with providers like Amazon and Media-Mark you can be sure that you will get your console and you will not fall for the scammers.
