Union member raises € 3,600 a month without working

After he was not given a mandate as a staff representative, he was offered an extremely lucrative alternative to a new job.

3,600 euros is a lot of money for many. Money that they could use well and especially money that most of them have to work hard for. However, the exceptions confirm the rule and, therefore, a pension privilege for a union member in Telekom is causing a lot of scandal, as the “Profile” reports.

Silvia B. was a member of the Telekom Austria Central Committee for the Social Democratic Trade Union faction (FSG) for years and was even a member of the supervisory board of the holding company of the Telekom Austria Group from 2012 to 2018. However, in 2019 she lost a mandate in staff council elections. But instead of just giving him another job at the company, there is a particularly interesting deal. B. agreed with two members of the telecommunications board that she would continue to be employed there, but that she would be permanently terminated from the service until her retirement in 2030. With that, she continues to receive a salary of 3,600 euros per month. Part of the settlement available to the magazine is also a voluntary severance payment in the amount of 24 monthly fees, which Bauer has requested has been paid monthly in advance since early 2020 at the current rate.

Telekom declined to answer how such a generous agreement can be reached. Here, reference was made to the fact that, for data protection reasons, no information could be provided.
