The alleged mastermind of the Ibiza video was extradited to Austria on Tuesday. The Vienna prosecutor’s office confirmed a corresponding report in the daily “Österreich”. Julian H. is currently in custody. A request for pretrial detention is now being submitted. Julian H. is charged with extortion and possible drug-related crimes. The presumption of innocence applies.
The 40-year-old private detective had tried in vain on Monday to prevent his extradition to Austria with an urgent request. The Federal Constitutional Court of Germany rejected his objection to the Berlin Chamber Court’s decision that his extradition is admissible. Julian H., who was wanted on a European arrest warrant, was arrested in Berlin in December.
He testified about the Wirecard accounting scandal
The Berlin Court of Appeal had accepted his extradition the week before on suspicion of extortion in connection with the video and possible drug offenses. On Friday he testified at the German commission of inquiry into the Wirecard accounting scandal. Ibiza’s local research committee would also like to question the alleged mastermind of the video.
