Police arrested two armed drug traffickers on Saturday night in Linz and Wels. Officers found a blank pistol in a 28-year-old Welser. He tried to escape earlier and sped over a red light at an intersection. A 32-year-old man had a firearm disguised as a pen in his pocket in Linz, police said.
The Iraqi citizen was detained on Hasnerstrasse in the state capital for a driver’s check. The 32-year-old man was clearly under the influence of addictive substances, a rapid test confirmed the suspicion. His driver’s license was also revoked. During a search, the police found the weapon that had been declared prohibited. A temporary gun ban was imposed on the man.
No driver’s license
In Wels, the 28-year-old admitted that he did not have a driver’s license when he pulled over. He let the car roll slowly until he suddenly stepped on the gas. When the police caught up with him, he refused to take the drug test. He was denounced and a weapons ban was issued.
Two more drunk driving incidents gave the executive in Upper Austria a restless Saturday night: in Linz they arrested a 28-year-old who appeared visibly dazed. In the man’s pocket they found a plastic bottle of methamphetamine. They had also taken away his driver’s license.
Refrigerated trailer overturned
In Andorf (Schärding district), a 20-year-old boy crashed into a refrigerated trailer with his car. Due to the force of the crash, it overturned, the meat products being transported were scattered on the road.
The young driver was clearly under the influence of intoxicating substances, so police checked for drugs in addition to an alcohol test. The suspicion was confirmed and his driver’s license was taken away.
