Before the weekend starts, there are two demonstrations in Vienna on the calendar of events on Friday afternoon. Drivers should avoid large-scale demonstrations.

The demonstration under the name “Social security for students” will take place on Friday at 1:00 p.m. in Vienna at Universitätsstraße 1, and from 1:30 p.m. from the town hall via Josef Meinrad-Platz to Löwelstraße, via Minoritenplatz, Ballhausplatz and to Heldenplatz leaves. The end of the rally, in which around 200 people are expected, is announced for 6:00 p.m.

Second demonstration in Vienna starting at 6 pm

This will be followed by the second demonstration, specifically starting at 6 pm, at the Herbert von Karajan-Platz starting point in Vienna’s 1st district. Starting at 6.30 pm, the approximately 100 participants will march under the slogan “Free political prisoners” down Kärntner Strasse, over Karlsplatz and towards the Resslpark. The final rally is announced around 8 p.m.

There will be short-term traffic closures and detours at both events. Wait times for drivers are also very likely. The ARBÖ Information Service advises all road users to avoid the affected road sections and to avoid them to a large extent. “Experience has shown that Friday demonstrations lead to increasingly long wait times and frustration for many drivers. If you have to do things in the area of the affected route, I recommend switching to the metro. Of course, this is not seen affected by the blockades, “warned the ARBÖ traffic expert. Jürgen Fraberger.
