Donald Trump’s lawyers are increasingly immersed in conspiracy theories in his attacks on the outcome of the lost presidential election. They claim, among other things, that the Democrats rigged the elections with the help of Venezuelan communists. They also insist on repeatedly refuted accusations that the software used in the recount converted votes for President Trump in favor of his victorious challenger Joe Biden.
At the same time, Trump’s side lost in court proceedings in the states of Georgia, Pennsylvania and Arizona on Thursday alone. In Georgia, Biden’s electoral victory in the state should be sealed on Friday with the official confirmation of the results. So far, Trump’s side has racked up more than 30 court slaps, with little success. Longtime Trump attorney and confidant Rudy Giuliani offered the possibility of further lawsuits.
Biden called Trump’s blocking attitude “completely irresponsible.” His refusal to accept the result of the November 3 elections is damaging the reputation of democracy. In light of Trump’s efforts to undermine the election outcome, Biden said he will be listed in the history books as the “most irresponsible president” of the United States.
At a press conference Thursday, Trump’s legal team also said evidence could not be presented to journalists in light of pending proceedings. In addition, important witnesses did not want to appear before the general public. That didn’t stop Giuliani from saying, “We can’t allow these criminals to steal the elections from the Americans. They voted for Donald Trump. They didn’t vote for Joe Biden.” All the electoral authorities have confirmed so far that there was no electoral fraud, nor major errors that could cast doubt on the election result.
However, Giuliani claimed that he could show that Trump had not actually lost the important state of Pennsylvania, but won it by a margin of 300,000 votes and Michigan by 50,000 votes. Among other things, the ballots were scanned several times. Giuliani Statement: “I think it is a logical conclusion that there was a joint plan that emanated directly from the Democratic Party and its candidate.” There was no evidence of that either. Attorney Sydney Powell continued: “What we are really dealing with here is a massive influx of communist money onto Venezuela, Cuba and presumably China to interfere in our election.” It also alleged that Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez, who died in 2013, had back doors built into the software used in vote counting. Apparently, a vote cast by Biden could be worth 1.25 votes. The software was only used to scan ballots. The electoral authorities emphasize that there is a paper receipt for each vote cast.
Christopher Krebs, recently fired by Trump, who was a senior government official responsible for safeguarding the elections, described the press conference on Twitter as “the most dangerous 1:45-hour television in US history.” “And probably the craziest,” he added.
State results are key to winning a presidential election. The head of state is not elected directly by the people, but by electors who cast their votes according to the results of their state. According to calculations by the American media, Democrat Biden has 306 electorates behind him, he needs 270 for the presidential election, Trump has 232 electorates. Pennsylvania is a particularly valuable state with 20 voters, Georgia has 16 votes and Wisconsin 10.
In Pennsylvania, Trump’s side, under the direction of his personal attorney and confidant Rudy Giuliani, is requesting a lawsuit, which has been reviewed a second time, not to confirm at all the outcome of the elections in the state. Instead, the local parliament, in which Republicans have a majority, should appoint the electorate.
