Trump speaks to the masses again in Nevada: election campaign despite Corona

meContrary to the regulations of the state of Nevada and his own government in the fight against the coronavirus, the president of the United States, Donald Trump, held a campaign event in a room. The construction machinery manufacturer could also lose its business license as the host of the event. Before the crowd in Henderson, south of Las Vegas, Trump spoke for a good hour and said the United States was about to defeat the virus. It was the first event of its kind since June that was not held outdoors.

Relatively few bystanders at a construction machinery manufacturer’s production facility wore masks, with one clear exception: Those who were directly behind Trump and would be seen on television wore mouth and nose protection. The temperature of each visitor was measured, the use of masks was not mandatory. Trump failed to mention on Sunday that nearly 200,000 American citizens died as a result of the pandemic and about 1,000 still die each day. Instead, he spoke out against a new store closure and again used the racist term “China virus” to denote Sars-CoV-2.

Most recently, Trump held an election rally in front of thousands of supporters in a closed room against the advice of health experts. Local health officials in Tulsa, Oklahoma, attributed the subsequent increase in coronavirus infections in the district to this appearance in the campaign. Subsequently, Trump’s campaign team had organized considerably smaller outdoor events.

Nevada’s Democratic Governor Steve Sisolak has limited indoor and outdoor meetings to 50. The rules, which have been in effect since May, are based on White House guidelines. Shortly before the event, Sisolak spoke of “reckless and selfish behavior that endangers many lives here in Nevada.”
