AUS President Donald Trump is scheduled to travel Tuesday to the city of Kenosha in the state of Wisconsin, where the black Jacob Blake was seriously injured by police shots. Trump will meet with police representatives in Kenosha, the White House announced Saturday. In addition, it will inspect the damage caused by protests against police violence. It was not announced whether Trump also wants to meet Blake’s family. Earlier, Trump had praised the deployment of the National Guard and said the unrest in the city would have stopped immediately after the arrival of more troops.

In Kenosha, 29-year-old Jacob Blake was shot seven times in the back by a police officer last Sunday. Video of the incident shows Blake approaching a car in front of him, while two police officers follow him with guns in hand. One of them points to his back. When Blake opens the driver’s door and leans in, one of the cops grabs his shirt and shoots. The video sparked outrage and protests in the United States. In the car were Blake’s children, ages three, five and eight.

Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul, who is investigating the case, said a knife had been found in the vehicle on the driver’s side floor. However, when asked by reporters, he did not provide information on whether Blake had a knife in his hand. It was also said that police twice tried to stun Blake with a stun gun, but it didn’t work.

The Kenosha Police Union, which is not involved in the investigation, said Blake was under a warrant for allegations of sexual assault at the time of the police operation, which police officers were aware of. They also saw a knife in his hand and there was a physical altercation between Blake and the cops. Blake’s lawyers told CNN that these allegations were “exaggerated” and were intended to justify the use of excessive force against Blake.
