The “steady genius” Donald Trump could still stumble over his own construction. For tax reasons, he does not personally own his golf club in Mar-a-Lago, Palm Beach, Florida. The current controversy stems from a 1993 deal. Trump was nearly broke at the time, but the cost of Mar-a-Lago ran into millions of dollars.
Trump now wanted to regain residence rights, but a lawyer filed a complaint, the Washington Post reported. “There is absolutely no legal basis for using your property as a residence and club,” the newspaper quoted a neighboring owner in Palm Beach who had previously complained about Trump.
