The federal government is negotiating with the German authorities on the applicable travel advisories. The threshold of 50 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days, which according to the dpa is also decisive for travel warnings in Germany, has been exceeded throughout Austria and in most federal states.
Tourism Minister Elisabeth Köstinger (ÖVP) said on Wednesday after the Council of Ministers in Vienna that the target would be comparable requirements across Europe. A spokesperson confirmed the talks to the APA. It has received different signals from Germany, Köstinger said. “We are in very intense talks, especially with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with those responsible for tourism and also with the Federal Chancellery in Germany to find a viable solution here.”
Belgium withdraws travel warning for Vorarlberg
Meanwhile, Belgium should lift the crown-related travel warning for Vorarlberg on Wednesday afternoon. Finance Minister Gernot Blümel (ÖVP) announced this after the Council of Ministers. The reason is the decrease in the number of infections in Vorarlberg. This shows that “it makes sense to take action,” Blümel emphasized. Currently, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days in Vorarlberg is 71.
By the end of September, Belgium had also put Vorarlberg and Tirol on the red list after Vienna. Consequently, if you stay in these areas within the last 14 days directly after entering Belgium, a Belgian PCR test and a 14-day quarantine are mandatory.
