Pitbull Dada fell asleep at Christmas because the local animal shelter made a terrible mistake. Her owner was already looking for her.
Pitbill Dada ran away from his owner Mónica López de Champaign (USA) in mid-December. The silly dog was looking for his beloved for days until he received the redeeming news shortly before Christmas, according to Monica on Facebook. Dada had already been delivered to the local animal shelter on December 18. Monica could pick up her dog there after the holidays. “They told me that by then he would be safe there and warm,” Monica said in her Facebook post.

But the shelter made a tragic mistake: Dada was accidentally put to sleep. Because the district will generally only keep captured dogs at the shelter for five days, a decision is then made about the future of the four-legged friends: whether they can find a new home or be euthanized. When Monica called the shelter on December 23, the decision had apparently already been made to put Dada to sleep. Tragically, the subsequent note that Dada should still be alive was overlooked.
The owner Monica is deeply saddened: “You were not just any dog,” she wrote in her farewell greeting to Dada. “You were my heart, my baby, an angel. Mommy misses you every day, but I know you’re good at doggy heaven. “
