Traffic lights are no longer pure green in any federal state

[ad_1]

From now on you will search in vain for a completely green federal state on the Corona traffic light map. The Corona Commission again evaluated the epidemiological development of the last days on Thursday night. This means that there are now also yellow areas in Salzburg, Carinthia and Burgenland (“medium risk”) at the Corona traffic light.

Specifically, the commission rated the Eisenstadt Stadt, Rust Stadt and Eisenstadt Umgebung districts in Burgenland, the Villach Stadt district in Carinthia, the Imst district and Salzburg Stadt in Tyrol as yellow. In Lower Austria, the Zwettl district went from yellow to orange (“high risk”). All other districts were unchanged in their assessment, the commission announced in the evening.

The last stoplight switch can be seen at https://corona-ampel.gv.at and in teletext on page 659. The Corona Commission’s assessment, it was explained, was made taking into account the risk of transmission, the traceability of transmission chains, test activity and use of hospital resources.

Edtstadler in home quarantine

Meanwhile, European and Constitutional Minister Karoline Edtstadler (ÖVP) is in home quarantine after an employee of her cabinet tested positive for Sars-CoV-2. Edtstadler has already been tested and is negative. She is now waiting at home for instructions from health authorities, a spokesman said late at night at the APA’s request.

The employee Edtstadler had contact with at the office is also under home quarantine. According to a press release, he is doing well under the circumstances. All other contact persons were also immediately screened, are under home quarantine until further notice and, it was emphasized, will follow the instructions of the authorities in full.

Due to the case of the crown in Edtstadler’s cabinet, it is unclear whether the minister will be able to attend the General Affairs Council next Tuesday (September 22) in Brussels. This would be the council’s first meeting in the wake of the Covid crisis, which should take place again in the physical presence of the participants.

Before Edtstadler’s cabinet, other Austrian government offices were already affected by corona cases. In early August, a support employee at the Federal Chancellery tested positive, but had no contact with Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP). In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs there was also a recent case, a trip planned by the department head Alexander Schallenberg (ÖVP) to Greece and Cyprus was canceled. Before that there had been a positive result there at the end of July. (apa)
