Vienna – Sunday, October 4, 2020, 9:27 p.m.
It was a perfect night for SK Rapid!
No one had expected such a performance as in the 3-0 win over LASK (match report >>>). The jubilation in the green and white camp was even greater.
Thomas Murg scored 1-0 himself, was one of the assets and showed no interest from the Middle East. Because the transfer window is still open for a few hours, even if sporting director Zoran Barisic assumes that “the scroll bar is closed.”
When asked, the 25-year-old from Styria is cryptic. “Nothing is going to happen to me. If something was fixed, I would not have played today,” Murg said in an interview with “Sky.”
When asked if Murg would still be 100 percent Rapidler, he replied, “If they fixed it now, I wouldn’t have played today.” The phrase “not yet fixed” leaves room for speculation. It may also be due to Rapid, for whom the offer from Saudi Arabia has so far not been enough.
For the player himself, it is a trend-setting decision: from a sporting point of view, he is on his way to the top as a high-performance player in Rapid and could also receive tastier offers in Europe in the future. On the other hand, the father of two children in Saudi Arabia is said to have an annual salary in the seven-figure range. More recently, however, it was said that the still-unnamed club had not contacted Rapid and had not improved the offer.
