Lieutenant Governor Christian Stöckl (ÖVP) developed symptoms of Covid 19 on Thursday night and was immediately examined. The rapid test was positive, reports the state of Salzburg. Therefore, the State Medical Directorate has established a test route with the Red Cross to evaluate all those involved as quickly as possible.
The member of the government and the government office employees were quarantined at home as a precaution, health authorities are in the process of tracing contacts. “I had a fever and pain in my joints during the night and I wanted to be sure immediately. The rapid test in the early hours of the morning was positive, I immediately went to quarantine at home. So far I have only had mild symptoms,” said the Lieutenant Governor Stöckl.
Corona test road setup
The State Medical Directorate, in cooperation with the Red Cross, has established a test route to evaluate all members of the government and their employees, members of the state parliament, as well as the leadership of the state parliament and people in the administration state appointed by the health authority.
After Stöckl tested positive for Covid-19 today, Governor Wilfried Haslauer’s (ÖVP) result in the morning was negative. A comprehensive environmental test followed. The results have been available since early afternoon. The first assessment: five members of the government so far have tested negative for the corona virus.
In today’s evaluation, a total of 125 people were subjected to a PCR test and a swab of 100 people was taken beforehand by the rapid test. Only 25 results remain pending, all the tests evaluated so far have been negative.
Contact tracing is in full swing
Health authorities are working hard to register all contact persons in order to classify them and, if necessary, impose traffic restrictions. Due to the valid criteria of the health authority, Regional Councilor Andrea Klambauer (NEOS) and Regional Councilor Josef Schwaiger (ÖVP) have been quarantined as Category 1 contacts. Regional Councilor Maria Hutter (ÖVP) as contact person Category 2 has received the following requirements from the responsible health authority: monitor health status, significantly reduce social contacts and avoid personal appointments. The result of the PCR test at Hutter is still pending.
The Salzburg government is still able to act
Extensive surveys of other contact persons are in full swing. Members of the government are fully capable of acting despite their traffic restrictions or domestic quarantine, the LH-Deputy agendas. Governor Haslauer will take over from Christian Stöckl until further notice.
Haslauer is relieved
Haslauer was greatly relieved by previous negative test results from his government colleagues. “We are playing it safe in this regard with the full-scale test route. The results available so far are very gratifying. We now expect the remaining 25 results to also give negative results,” said the Prime Minister. “At this point, I wish my colleague Christian Stöckl a speedy recovery and all the best.”
