A high level of property damage and three stolen vehicles. This is the result of a robbery at a car dealership in Freistadt.
Everything was discovered by accident on Saturday afternoon. A police patrol had observed a car traveling at high speed through the Weigetschlag border crossing into the Czech Republic.
In addition, the attentive police officers noticed that there was no license plate on the front. A license plate inquiry revealed that it was a car from a car dealership in the Freistadt district.
Showroom totally devastated
Then a police patrol headed to the car dealership. When they got closer, they immediately noticed that the barrier was open. In addition, the rear plates of two vehicles were removed. During the tour, clear traces of a robbery could also be found.
After the arrival of the owner of the company, the interior was searched. The showroom was completely devastated, the alarm system destroyed and a car badly damaged. A total of three cars were stolen from the unknown perpetrators. These are a VW T-Roc (with which the perpetrators went to the Czech Republic), a VW T-Cross and a VW Tuareg.
Great chase was unsuccessful
The exact amount of damage is not yet known. Due to the existing situation, a great manhunt with several patrols, a service dog patrol and the police helicopter began immediately. Furthermore, the Czech police were informed, who started an alarm chase in their area. At around 11pm, the search was abandoned with no result.
The police assume that the T-Cross and the Tuareg are still in hiding in Austria and will only be “picked up” later by the perpetrators.
