Former ski ace Marcel Hirscher, ÖTV star Dominic Thiem, snowboarder Anna Gasser or former ski jumpers Thomas Morgenstern and Andreas Goldberger were among those who ran for a good cause. After the Vienna race was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, everyone was able to travel individually thanks to an app.

Globally, 77,103 people from 171 nations in 104 countries were on different surfaces, in Austria there were 27,046 participants. In total, donations totaling 2.8 million euros were raised, according to the organizers of the charity event. They are used for global research in search of healing of spinal cord injuries.

Unlike classic race events, there is no goal with “Wings for Life”. Rather, a so-called auto receiver is sent, which is gradually becoming faster. When all participating runners or wheelchair users have been caught, the race is over. The overall winner was the British Michael Taylor (69.9 km) and again Nina Sarina from Russia (54.2 km). In Austria, Lukas Oberhauser (57.1 km) and Julia Mayer (41.6 km) won.
