Health Minister Rudolf Anschober (Greens) presented the three phases of the vaccination strategy for Austria on Wednesday. This is how they look >>>
Corona vaccination will start in Austria from January 2021 – reported “Today”. At today’s Council of Ministers, the government decided exactly how to vaccinate the country. The Minister of Health, Rudolf Anschober, assured that there will be no compulsory vaccination.
However, the minister made an urgent recommendation that everyone get vaccinated against the virus to defeat the pandemic. “The goal is for us to achieve the highest possible vaccination coverage,” the Health Minister said at a press conference on Wednesday.
The details of the vaccination strategy
Anschober himself would want at least 50 percent, but “every percentage point we are higher is one percentage point earned.” In the media round, the minister also presented the individual phases of the vaccination strategy for the country. The details:
➤ In Phase I of the vaccination strategy, one million doses should already be administered. In January and February, nurses and vulnerable groups should be vaccinated first. As it has to be vaccinated twice, it reaches 500,000 people in this phase.
➤ In Phase II, from February to April, the focus will be on people over 65 years of age. Two million cans are planned for this.
➤ In phase III, one will “go out into the field” with broadband vaccines.
Crown numbers are still “too high”
Anschober also made it clear once again that the crown numbers in Austria are “still too high.” After the slight relaxation at the start of the week from Tuesday to Wednesday, there were a total of 5,802 new corona cases and 90 deaths.
“We absolutely cannot talk about a turnaround in Austria yet. We have to be very, very consistent in the coming months,” said the Minister of Health.
