Due to a heat wave in southern California, thousands of Americans made a pilgrimage to the sea over the weekend and refrained from taking crown measures.
This weekend in California, which is currently being hit by a heat wave, showed that compliance with the measures is no longer fully compatible. In the surf town of Newport Beach, not far from the Los Angeles metropolis, tens of thousands flocked to the beach, as recent images show. According to residents, the number of visitors was comparable to July 4, the highest national holiday for Americans.
The neighboring town of Huntington Beach was also heavily visited, although parking lots had previously been closed. Orange County’s beaches, where Newport and Huntington Beach are located, are currently the only beaches in California that are still open. No future beach closure is planned, as the “Orange County Registry” says.
