Austrian swimming star Markus Rogan is bad news. Despite a positive test result for Corona, he apparently came from Israel to his adopted home, Los Angeles, and led authorities by the nose.
The 38-year-old currently works as a mental coach for the Israel national soccer team. After a defeat of the Israeli team in the Nations League in Haifa, in addition to one player, Rogan also tested positive for the corona virus.
After that, Rogan should have entered a 14-day quarantine.
According to Austrian media reports, he asked to be allowed to stay with relatives in Israel. A transport commissioned especially for him should take him there from the hotel in Haifa. But by then the world swimming champion and Olympic runner-up had already disappeared, apparently in a panic.
Ancient crown test filed
According to Israeli media reports, he had rebooked his scheduled flight, which was originally scheduled for a week later, and was traveling from Tel Aviv to Los Angeles via Germany on the Monday after the game. At the airport, he then presented a previous corona test, with a negative test result. Since then he has been hiding in Los Angeles.
There is ridicule on Twitter.
Even to his teammates, the former swim star has been unavailable for a week. The head of Israel’s soccer team, Willi Ruttensteiner, spoke in a first reaction of a “terrible mistake” by Rogans. “But we cannot judge him, it is still too early. We will sit down and discuss the consequences. He has to take responsibility for his behavior.” Ruttensteiner is traded on the ORF.
They declared the collaboration with the sports association ended. However, Rogan’s contract would have expired at the end of December anyway.
