He briefly stated that it was easier to enforce a lockdown due to uncertainty in the first half of the year. That was much more difficult in the fall. At the same time, he complains that more and more people are no longer taking the measures seriously. “So it was a difficult year and there will be difficult months. With each vaccination we get closer to normal.”
Are nursing homes not sufficiently protected?
“I am almost always struck by the subject because I think: ‘How is that happening?'” But the virus would spread to all age groups of the population and once it reached a nursing home, it would cause a ‘forest fire’ . .
Can you do more? “Of course”, but then you have to isolate the residents completely. Respect all those responsible in nursing homes who have to walk the huge tightrope daily between protection and human existence or isolation from residents.
“I’m more of a hardliner on the issue,” says Kurz, referring to the visit bans. “But it always affects me when people call me and tell me it’s worse not being able to visit family.” At the same time, he warned about the risk of Covid spreading in homes for the elderly and elderly.
He himself was affected in his environment: the grandmother of a good friend in a nursing home was ill, the Chancellor said.
Freer: there are differences
In cultural and sporting events, cinemas and hotels, that is, whenever an entry or registration form is required, a negative test must be submitted, which must not be more than 48 hours old. “Why are we doing this? Not to torture anyone, but because it is the only way to increase these areas at this stage,” Kurz added.
In the catering industry, checks are carried out differently, where health authorities will carry out random checks. You can also ask the police for help. The proof of crown sent can also be one week old here. But it is a “wrong belief” that the restaurant will be able to open without restrictions. Here too there will have to be support measures.

“There is no vaccination pause,” continued the Chancellor. It was always clear that there would be a waiting period after the first leg. Starting in January, the government expects thousands more doses of vaccination per week. These should be inoculated as soon as possible ”. According to Pfizer / Biontech, the vaccine will likely receive approval from Moderna and then from AstraZeneca. If this approval is successful, around 500,000 people in Austria will be able to be vaccinated in the first trimester.
Non-compliance with the protection of the constitution
