The school traffic light remains “yellow” even in “red” districts

St. Pölten-Stadt, Mödling, Amstetten, Tulln and Bruck / Leitha – these districts are now “red” at the Corona traffic lights. In schools, however, the traffic lights remain “yellow.”

The Education Directorate explains this by stating that the number of students who tested positive is relatively low. In the last 14 days in Lower Austria there were a total of 229 students who tested positive. This corresponds to 0.13 percent of the total number of about 180,000 students. In the “red districts”, 0.14 percent of students in St. Pölten, 0.12 percent in Mödling, 0.05 percent in Amstetten, 0.09 percent in Tulln and 0 , 11 percent in Bruck an der Leitha tested positive.

In schools, the rules defined for “yellow” will continue to apply after the fall break: the mask is mandatory outside of class, as well as singing and gymnastics in the open air. “If all these measures are met, we will have achieved a lot and will remain on track in the fight against the corona virus in our schools,” said Education Director Johann Heuras and Education Minister Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister optimistically.

If, from an epidemiological point of view, it is necessary to readjust the color of the traffic light in one or another school, it will be coordinated individually with the health authorities.
