A chase ended the night of the national holiday in Wels-Pernau in an accident and with the arrest of the driver.

The driver evidently evaded an attempt to stop by the police, then ran out of the city via Wienerstraße or Linzer Straße and then re-entered and left the city via Pyhrnpass Straße. Police were already in pursuit of the fugitive driver before he hit a streetlight pole at the intersection of Pyhrnpass Strasse and Kasbergstrasse and Wiesenstrasse. Later, the driver was arrested. The obviously very drunk driver behaved in an extremely uncooperative manner with the police forces during the recording of the accident, which is why he eventually had to be taken away in handcuffs. His co-pilot was treated by emergency services at the scene, but then he drove home in a taxi. The car was loaded and removed by a towing company. The fire department and a technician from the utility company removed the light pole from the street lights.

The Wiesenstraße crossing area was difficult to pass.
