In early February Pastor Daniel of Wieselburg kicked Kostrzycki still in the ranks of the team of Austrian international priests in the EM in Prague. A month later, the chills, high fever, and severe cough forced the man of God to lie down for weeks. Now that he had recovered from Corona disease, he did not miss the opportunity to enrich his blood with Covid antibodies for the treatment of others.
“You are our first”, was Kostrzycki at the university hospital blood bank St. Pölten welcome as the first covid plasma donor. In the blood bank, however, the priest is not strange. He has already contributed more than 90 times as a blood donor.
“I can’t rebuild where I got infected. I don’t know. But I’m happy to be able to help other people with my blood after surviving the disease, “he said. Kostrzycki.
Not admitted to the test
His medical history has dramatic characteristics. He then called a parish council meeting in early March, although he felt a little ill. After the meeting began, he stopped it because he did not want to infect the participants with the alleged flu. When fever and chills developed in the days that followed, he was repeatedly reassured with three calls to the Covid 1450 hotline and was not approved for a crown test. The family doctor treated him with antibiotics, and only after a week of serious illness did the priest test positive for Covid-19.
The period of illness was doubly difficult for the dean. In the midst of Easter preparations, it didn’t just happen in his parish Wieselburg, but also in his dean’s office Ybbs Brothers and coworkers also had to be quarantined due to illness.
