Yesterday, Health Minister Rudi Anschober (Greens) renewed the Federal Government’s appeal to federal states to use “courageously” the possibilities of the new Covid-19 law and to adopt additional measures in regions with particularly high levels of infections by crown.
“The number of new infections is still too high. In the last two weeks we have decided new and important measures at the national level that should gradually lead to a reduction in the number of new infections every day from the first half of October,” he says Anschober. Yesterday, 662 new infections were recorded across the country, the majority in Vienna (279) and Lower Austria (109). There were 74 new infections in Upper Austria. Individual parameters improve: the reproduction number, which indicates how many people infected by one infected person, is again 1.0. If it falls below 1, it is a sign that the pandemic is under control. At the beginning of September, the figure was 1.3.
In Tyrol, the shock after the German travel warning for the state remains great: Governor Günther Platter (VP) spoke of a “severe blow”. Now every effort must be made to reduce the number of new infections so that Tyrol can kick off the winter tourism season.
