Anyone who cannot get the Corona test should be quarantined: The Slovak government announced Tuesday that it would clamp down on its planned massive Corona tests. The government’s plan stipulates that the next three weekends, from Friday to Sunday, all residents of the country over the age of 10 must undergo a rapid antigen test. The procedure caused irritation and speculation in the media. The populist-conservative head of government Igor Matovic surprisingly announced the project over the weekend without informing his coalition partners beforehand.
Although the first phase of the massive tests is due to begin next Friday, Matovic did not answer the question of whether the tests should be voluntary or mandatory until Tuesday: “The tests will most likely be voluntary, but with the restriction that everyone who it cannot produce a negative result and must be quarantined for the next ten days. “
In addition to legal concerns and warnings about the unreliability of rapid tests, health experts criticized the lack of staff. The army wants to deploy around 8,000 soldiers to support the tests, but Health Minister Marek Krajci had to admit that personnel with medical training are still being sought. He was expecting volunteers and medical students, he said Tuesday.
