“Maximum” was almost everything in his football life. Otto Baric was synonymous with passion and success. The Croatian reached the final of the European Cup with Rapid and Salzburg. For ÖFB he worked as a team manager.
Otto Baric died of the coronavirus at the age of 87, the Croatian daily Vecernji List reported and has now been confirmed.
Seven times champion
In Austria, Baric was coach of Innsbruck, LASK, Rapid, Sturm, Austria Salzburg and director of the national team. He celebrated his greatest hits with Rapid and Salzburg. He led Rapid to the Cup Winners’ Cup final in 1985 and Austria Salzburg to the UEFA Cup final in 1994.
After his illness, Baric, who was born in Eisenkappel, was admitted to the Dubrava hospital. There “Otto Maximal” died.
