Polish ski jumpers can now start at the beginning of the Four Hills Tournament. The organizers announced this Tuesday morning. Another series of coronavirus tests with the team around defending champion Dawid Kubacki and Olympic champion Kamil Stoch had previously been negative. The responsible health department in Oberallgäu later lifted the quarantine for the team.

A positive CoV test with ski jumper Klemens Muranka on Monday led to the exclusion of the Poles from qualifying and from the inaugural competition in Oberstdorf scheduled for Tuesday (4.30pm, live on ORF1). By Monday night Muranka and his teammates had received completely negative results, and the International Ski Federation (FIS) had announced that the team could now start if the test result was more negative.

After all, with the decision to let the Poles start, the mode of competition will change on Tuesday. Instead of the elimination duels of the best 50 jump shots in the first round, there will be a first round with the 62 athletes. Direct delete mode does not apply. Austrian Philipp Aschenwald won qualifying on Monday.
