Time and again there is speculation about renewed exit restrictions. But there should no longer be a blockade like in March.
Health Minister Rudolf Anschober declared on Friday that he had “measures in the drawer” in view of the sharp increase in new infection rates in Austria. Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, who met with Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder on Friday, wants to react like Bavaria and Germany this week. So what’s next? According to the information, it should be a “blocking light”. So strict rules like in March should not be allowed. It’s still tight.
Whats Next:
-
Earliest curfew. At least in all orange districts, but possibly even in all of Austria, the curfew should be brought forward at 10 pm or 11 pm
-
5 people in celebrations. Additionally, the ten-person rule for private parties will be reduced to five people.
-
Two weeks of fall break. Two weeks of fall break are also being discussed in the orange districts. Some even want it all over Austria. The Ministry of Education does not want to switch to e-learning, but parts of the government in the worst affected districts are fighting hard for higher school.
-
Rules for nursing homes. Recently there have been more frequent clusters in nursing homes. Across Austria, starting from the yellow districts, there should be stricter rules for nursing homes, but also for day and outpatient centers.
-
Mask requirement is expanded. Also, the mask requirement, which exists in many closed areas, must be placed on a scientific basis: that is, as in Italy, Germany or France, visors, especially ineffective chin visors, should no longer be valid as replacement by MNS.
Also, there is still controversy about it, MNS will be mandatory for people to gather outside beyond the demonstrations. These new adjustments could take effect from November 2.
