The Lake Constance region did not campaign again for the opening of the borders until Tuesday. “The regions around the lake are increasingly working to open their borders to their federal governments,” Vorarlberg Governor Markus Wallner (ÖVP) said Tuesday after a video conference with the heads of government of the International Lake Conference of Constance (IBK). The mood in the regions is clear.

The states and cantons around Lake Constance could no longer understand the applicable travel restrictions for various reasons, Wallner emphasized as the current IBK president. Infection numbers are comparatively low and declining everywhere, and all regions have a very good containment strategy for new infections. The strict protection and hygiene regulations also remained in force after the opening of the border. “This means that all conditions are in place for an openness to work,” Wallner emphasized.

The Governor also recalled that the Lake Constance countries are closely linked in many different ways. We need a solution quickly in this four-country region with traditionally strong exchange,” Wallner said.
