And so you present the next electric car with the C40 Recharge. According to Volvo, the C40 Recharge should be a crossover model and its design resembles the coupe version of the XC40 Recharge. However, the C40 Recharge is the first Volvo in the company’s history that was designed exclusively as an electric car. The technical basis is the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA).
It is powered by two electric motors, one on the front axle and one on the rear axle, with a system output of 300 kW / 408 hp. The electricity is stored in a 78 kWh battery, which can be charged to 80 percent in 40 minutes at a fast-charging station.
The range is about 420 kilometers. However, software updates should ensure growth here throughout the life of the car.
Keyword software update. Like the XC40 Recharge, the C40 also features an Android-based infotainment system that was jointly developed with Google. The customer can use many popular applications and services, such as Google Maps, Google Assistant and Google Play Store. Unlimited data volume ensures connectivity at all times and software updates are done wirelessly “over the air”.
online only
The C40 Recharge will be produced starting in the fall. And it will only be available to order online. “The C40 Recharge is only available online in attractive all-inclusive terms and short lead times,” announced Henrik Green, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Volvo Cars.
Volvo is moving the sale of its cars to the internet in the future and will offer upcoming electric cars exclusively through online channels (starting with the 2022 model year XC40 Recharge). In addition, the Swedes have announced that they will reduce the complexity of the product range and will work with fixed and transparent pricing models.
Under the name “Care by Volvo”, a Volvo car subscription, the company wants to focus on a complete and convenient package (the subscription sale model will not be available for the Austrian market until a later date).
Partner companies must of course remain a crucial part of the customer experience and, especially in markets like Austria, the central point of contact for customers: at Volvo dealerships, customers continue to receive the right advice and customers they can organize your driving tests. Important services such as sales advice, preparation, delivery and maintenance of vehicles are also the responsibility of the contractual partners, Volvo explains.
