As soon as the starting shot for the 2020/21 Ski World Cup season is fired, the alpine women take a short Christmas break from sprinting in Val d’Isere. But before that happens, the DSV women have two more races and a Super-G on the OK slope.

National coach Jürgen Graller traveled to France with Kira Weidle (SC Starnberg), Meike Pfister (SC Krumbach), Michaela Wenig (SC Lenggries), Fabiana Dorigo (TSV 1860 Munich), Nadine Kapfer (SC Garmisch). On Saturday’s first descent, however, only Kira Weidle starts.

Jürgen Graller, DSV women’s national coach: “After the very late start of the speed season with the races at St. Moritz victims of the start of winter, we are now looking forward to the races at Val d´Isère. The images from the men’s downhill last weekend were fantastic; we hope there will be equally good conditions in the women’s races.

The speed group recently trained together with the Americans in Schladming. The main focus here was mainly on Super-G and giant slalom.

In the speed team, we currently have to give up both the best established drivers and the young talented drivers. Following the resignation of Viktoria Rebensburg, the team is missing Patrizia Dorsch, Katrin Hirtl-Stanggaßinger and Carina Stuffer, among others. Due to their injuries, these athletes are unable to intervene again in the race or after completing rehabilitation.

After the training sessions, we will decide together if Meike Pfister and Michaela Wenig, who are returning from a rehab phase, will start. “

Kira Weidle: “The track is in very good condition. A great challenge, as with men, is the change of light and shadow. It is important to adapt well to this.

Until I jump into the tunnel, I am very happy with my first training session. Until then, I was there too. After the jump I slipped away, annoyed, but not too bad. Unfortunately, I damaged my left thumb a bit.

Tomorrow I’ll put my thumb on an Orthema rail for the second training session and then see how it goes. Except for my thumb, I’m doing great. I trained at Schladming last week and am currently having a lot of fun and feel good driving. “
