The Czech Republic risks opening up and a third wave

All shops and restaurants in the Czech Republic will reopen on Thursday. Too early?

A few days ago the voices of alert predominated in the Czech government to restart public life before the end of the second crown wave. The odds before Christmas were then said to be 50:50. After the self-imposed emergency lights, it was later said, at best the capital Prague should return to a more normal life, where the incidence of infections is drastically decreasing. There were 155 infected people for every 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days. At the other end of the scale is currently the city of Havlíčkův Brod / Deutschbrod, where the seven-day incidence is 651. In other countries there would be an atmosphere of alarm.

However, the government made decisions this Sunday that encouraged the newspaper “Mladá fronta dnes” to put the headline: “End of the great prohibitions.” The partners of “Lidové noviny” wrote: “Grand opening from Thursday.”
