Due to the explosion in the number of corona infections, a national emergency came into effect again in the Czech Republic at midnight.
The government of Prime Minister Andrej Babis had decided to declare a state of emergency due to a “spectacular increase” in crown numbers. Among other things, it allows the government to restrict civil rights such as freedom of assembly and to take action without parliamentary approval.
Football stadiums without spectators
The state of emergency was in effect from mid-March to mid-May. Unlike spring, the borders should remain open this time. For events and meetings, a maximum of ten people applies indoors and 20 outdoors. Professional sports have to do without spectators. There are numerous exceptions. Companies and businesses are not affected.
More recently, a new high in daily corona infections was reached on Friday with 3,792 cases.
