Prime Minister Andrej Babis calls on Minister Roman Prymula to resign. The minister is said to have violated his own strict rules about the crown. Not true, says the Minister of Health.
The Czech Republic is likely to lose the Minister of Health again at the height of the Crown crisis. Prime Minister Andrej Babis said on Friday that he had asked Roman Prymula to submit his resignation. If you don’t do that, you will be fired. The minister’s misconduct is “unforgivable.” But Prymula refuses to resign.
The Health Minister is accused of violating his own drastic regulations on the crown. The newspaper “Blesk” photographed the politician and epidemiologist leaving a fancy restaurant at night without wearing a mask. All restaurants in the Czech Republic have been closed for a week and a half.
“We discuss things over coffee”
Consequently, the 56-year-old met there with the leader of the parliamentary group of the ruling populist party ANO, Jaroslav Faltynek. The latter admitted the irregularity and asked for an apology in parliament. “Things were discussed over coffee” in the restaurant.
Prymula: don’t break any rules
He will not resign because he has not broken any rules, Prymula told a press conference in Prague on Friday, according to the CTK news agency. Prymula argued that he participated in a conversation in the private premises of the Vysehrad monastery, not in a closed restaurant. The monastery rents part of its property to a restaurant.
Strict exit restrictions apply in the Czech Republic. People are encouraged to stay home as much as possible. Restaurants must remain closed. You are allowed to sell takeout from a window, but only until 10pm
