Even in the city senate, the SPÖ and the FuFu list opposed the necessary acquisition of land from the Lower Austrian railways. Mayor Werner Krammer (ÖVP) should renegotiate the purchase price, requested SPÖ city councilor Erich Leonhartsberger. The ÖVP rejected this with its majority. By circular resolution, the ÖVP, with the support of the two city councils of the UWG and the Greens, also clearly prevailed with 28 votes. SPÖ, FuFu and FPÖ had to accept the agreement with the Lower Austrian railways with twelve votes against.
But the resentment remains. “This purchase price is a mystery to us, especially in the tight budget situation in the city. The market value does not give this amount, ”says SPÖ Deputy Mayor Armin Bahr. He wants the state offices of the SPÖ to control the company internally and, depending on the result, to take action against it.
For the head of the city, Krammer, the accusations are “ridiculous”. The SPÖ works against better knowledge, he says. “The purchase, of course, was preceded by a serious evaluation of the reasons,” said the mayor. Since the city will also use the acquired land, a correct agreement with the Lower Austrian railways is inevitable, the city chief is convinced.
A total of eight different spaces will be purchased at different prices of square meters. The purchase price ranges from just under two euros to 60 euros for the more than 3,000 square meter train station in Gstadt. “For example, there is a snack stand in the station area that will now pay us the rent,” says Krammer.
