Red Bull Munich won the second semi-final match at Red Bulls Salute against spusu Vienna Capitals 2-1 and will meet EC-KAC in the final tomorrow Sunday (6:00 pm). In an exciting game at the Sportpark Kitzbühel, which sold out with 468 spectators, the Munich team was the deserved winner, but had to work hard to defeat the strong Vienna Capitals. The Viennese will face EC Red Bull Salzburg in the match for third place on Sunday (2pm).
The second Red Bulls Salute semi-final match between Red Bull Munich and the spusu Vienna Capitals immediately picked up speed and quickly turned into an engaging game. For a long time it was back and forth, but with a few shots on target, both goalkeepers – Kevin Reich in Munich and Bernhard Starkbaum in Vienna – quickly warmed up. From the second half of the first leg, however, the pressure on Bayern increased. In the 15th minute, Luca Zitterbart scored a goal from mid-range for Red Bull Munich and deservedly led his team 1-0.
In the first ten minutes of the second leg, the Munich team demonstrated why they were the main winners of the main round of the PENNY DEL last season. They played almost exclusively in the offensive zone and with a lot of movement created a series of first-rate opportunities. The Viennese survived this phase with luck and a very good Bernhard Starkbaum without conceding a second goal and then got the best chances in a few outnumbered matches, which have now been destroyed by Munich goalkeeper Kevin Reich with great reactions.
In the 35th minute, the puck was there, Colin Campbell pushed it over the line with a little push to equalize 1: 1. A few seconds before the second break, Munich had the answer; Yasin Ehliz fed through the Viennese defense, scored 2-1 and regained the lead.
The caps reared and immediately played to tie. It was a mutual exchange of punches, but Kevin Reich had to defuse some very good Viennese shots. In a match that was now almost bitter, the capitals went dangerously ahead of Munich’s goal and created many risky situations in which Kevin Reich and his forwards, even in the last two minutes against six Viennese outfield players, always maintained control of the situation. In the end, the Munich team were happy for the close 2-1 win against Vienna Capitals after a fierce final third and are thus in the Red Bulls Salute final for the third time.
