That’s how much money you lose every month in the confinement – Austria-News

More than every third household is struggling with massive income losses in the confinement. As a survey shows, fixed costs can hardly be paid.

585 euros. Domestic households lose this amount on average in closure. As a survey by “durchblicker.at” shows, the amount of money lost by those affected and how many households it affects varies from region to region. Households in Salzburg, for example, are apparently the most affected in terms of numbers (44 percent), as are households in Tyrolean (41 percent) and Upper Austria (40 percent). In Vienna it is one in three households.

The extent of losses, on the other hand, is greater in Carinthia with an average of 806 euros, followed by Salzburg with losses of 618 euros per affected household. Vienna is in the mid-range at 593 euros. More than a third of households (36 percent) are still struggling with significant losses that can still be deducted from the first lockdown. Only one sixth of affected households were able to recover financially between closings, says Reinhold Baudisch, managing director of “durchblicker.”

Fixed costs can no longer be covered

The self-employed, job seekers and workers in particular would be particularly affected by the current exceptional economic situation. “Our survey clearly shows that the time since the first wave has not been long enough for most households to recover. The second lockdown and its negative effects on the economy mean further deterioration for households,” Baudisch said.

Every affected second household (49 percent) cites short-term work as the reason for the reduction, while about one in six factors, such as no overtime, layoff, or a decrease in job turnover on their own, they influence. Dramatic: Most notably, freelancers (14 percent), new job applicants (10 percent), and workers (9 percent) say they can no longer cover their fixed costs due to their reduced earnings.
