Van Gogh’s painting “Iris” it was imitated of plasticine, pearls and carrots, for example, a pug with a headscarf and an earring had to be used for Vermeer’s “girl with a pearl earring”. An art lover recreated an ancient sculpture of a harpist with his vacuum cleaner hose, “The Laundress” by French painter Jean-Baptiste Greuze was reinterpreted by a girl and her mother in front of a washing machine.

On Twitter, Instagram and Facebook The Getty Museum publishes numerous emails. Some participants said that they had worked on their imitations for many hours. “Much more than someone would be standing in front of a work of art in the museum,” says Annelisa Stephan, pleased by the zeal of the users.
