Dominic Thiem is finally changing his training rooms at home. After many years in the southern southern city of Vienna, Thiem is now training in Vienna at the “Best Tennis Center” in Alt Erlaa. His coach, Father Wolfgang Thiem, would like to reside in District 23 along with his other protégés Dennis Novak, Sebastian Ofner, and Jurij Rodionov for at least two to three years.

Dream of “Dominic-Thiem-Academy”
With Thiem, Novak, Ofner and Rodionov, the top four Austrian ATP professionals are currently relocating their base from the Federal Performance Center from Südstadt to Vienna. Could this mean that Davis Cup training courses no longer take place in the southern part of the city? “I plan to stop practicing in the southern part of the city. Unless we want to train outdoors on a hard court, ”says Thiem, senior. The facility in Alt Erlaa has 13 outdoor sand courts, a hard court is available in a hall at the Traiskirchen destination.
The facility is old but nice, says Thiem, who also sees the training facility long-term. “I want to stay there for at least the next two or three years. I am considering if I could make a hard court outdoors in the medium term. I want to position myself there in such a way that I have a good base for professionals there, ”says Wolfgang Thiem.
However, the dream of having a “Dominic-Thiem-Academy” is not yet over. “The academy is already a project that is on my mind, but it will certainly take two to three years before I am ready to make a decision.” However, this would be in a different place. At Alt Erlaa, he now wants to build an East Performance Center for the best players from Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland.
