Take a sigh of relief from ÖFB Defense Chief Martin Hinteregger!

The Frankfurt legionnaire “only” suffered a severe bruise on his left ankle in the Nations League match against Norway. The dreaded ligament injury did not reveal the MRI scan performed on Saturday.

It remains to be seen if the 27-year-old will be able to play in the Nations League game against Romania on Monday. Hinteregger will only participate in training for the national team again on Sunday.

Hinteregger had already suffered the injury in the early stages, but passed as substitute captain for Julian Baumgartlinger until the 40th minute. After returning from Oslo, the ÖFB team completed a 60-minute training session on Saturday night. The players, who had played for more than 30 minutes the day before, regenerated, except for Karim Onisiwo and Stefan Ilsanker, who did light running drills, all inside the stadium.
