At the end of the first weekend of the Nordic Combined World Cup in Ruka, Finland, ÖSV youngster Johannes Lamparter try your class again with 4th place. The young Tyrolean only had to admit defeat to the winner Jens Luraas Oftebro (NOR) and the two Germans Fabian Riessle (+ 1.9 seconds) and Manuel Faisst (+ 6.4 seconds).
Unfortunately, the jumping round had to be canceled due to the strong and unpredictable wind, so Thursday’s provisional competition round was included in the ranking. From an Austrian point of view, this was especially beneficial for Lamparter, who finished the “PCR”, as it is called in technical jargon, as a strong third. Only 26 seconds separated him from the jump winner Manuel Faisst (GER). As the second best Austrian, Franz-Josef Rehrl followed in sixth place (+ 1min2sec) in the race. The provisional round was less positive for Dominator Jarl Magnus Riiber. The Norwegian was disqualified for a non-conforming suit.
In the cross-country race, Lamparter managed to close the gap after four kilometers with the German Fabian Riessle, who ran into the Tyrolean from behind. The group of four with Lamparter, the two Germans Faisst and Riessle and the eventual winner Oftebro (NOR) battled for the podium consecutively. In a tactical second half of the race, Johannes Lamparter lost contact with the leading trio on the last descent and finally finished fourth (+ 11.8 seconds).
Franz-Josef Rehrl slipped from sixth place after the jump as eleventh out of the top ten (+ 1min6sec). Behind Rehrl, Thomas Jöbstl took 12th place. With the ninth race, Carinthian improved two places from 14th place (+ 1min19.8sec).
After finishing second and sixth in the first two competitions and today’s good result, Lamparter finished the Ruka Tour in third place overall and can expect a total of CHF 10,500 in prize money. Despite today’s disqualification, Jarl Magnus Riiber secured victory in the general classification. Today’s winner, Jens Luraas Oftebro, was second.
The other placements of the Austrians:
15. Lukas Greiderer (+1: 56.5)
20. Mario Seidl (+2: 06.3)
23. Martin Fritz (+2: 35.9)
DNS: Lukas Klapfer
Be right:
Johannes Lamparter: “Today was a great race, first we slowed down in the group and finally we accelerated again. Unfortunately, I made a stupid mistake on the descent and lost a few meters as a result. However, I am very satisfied with the weekend and very happy. Ruka’s podium in the general classification is very valuable to me and shows that the first two days were not an accident. That gives me a lot of confidence in myself for the World Cup at home in Ramsau. ”
Franz-Josef Rehrl: “I found it a bit more difficult today in the race than yesterday. I noticed that my legs were a bit tired and I wanted to save energy for the last lap, which I did quite well. It wasn’t enough against the best riders in the world on the final climb, but I’m sure he will improve even more throughout the winter. But I am completely satisfied with the weekend and I am looking forward to the other competitions. ”
Head coach Christoph Eugen: “The whole team did a very good job and of course it’s fun when the hits come. We knew Johannes was in a great mood, but we couldn’t expect him to start running and steadily at the front. He has a lot of fun himself, which of course is very important, also for the whole team. ”
The team will stay in Ruka to train for two days and then travel to Rovaniemi, 2.5 hours away, on Tuesday. There, athletes will find ideal conditions on cross-country trails and jumps to train there for the entire next week.
Since the competitions in Lillehammer, which were scheduled for next weekend, had to be postponed for the time being, the World Cup for Nordic off-roaders will not continue until December 18 and 20 in Ramsau am Dachstein with the World Cup at home.
