STRABAG invests approx. 10 million euros
Vienna / Ybbs on the Danube (OTS) – The largest Austrian construction company, STRABAG, yesterday celebrated the first milestone on the path to state-of-the-art apprenticeship training in Austria with the opening of the new training center in Ybbs an der Donau. In total, the company invests approx. 10 million euros in the new location, where approx. 250 apprentices are trained every year
Once presentation planning is complete, construction work will begin as planned with the opening ceremony. The representatives of the provincial government of Lower Austria, firstly Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner and Deputy Governor Franz Schnabl, the Mayor of Ybbs, Alois Schroll and the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of STRABAG SE, Alfred Gusenbauer, became themselves themselves, in view of the precautionary measures for the prevention of coronavirus on a small scale – an image of the plans for the 31,000 m² area on the site.
„For us as an Austrian group, it is important that we invest in the training of our employees even in difficult times like the current coronavirus crisis and that we take our social responsibility seriously. As a result, we not only create jobs on the apprenticeship academy site, but we also want to bring young people closer to the diversity of professions in the construction industry and offer them a future professional home at STRABAG.
“, Thomas Birtel, CEO of STRABAG SE, explained during the event.
Ybbs Mayor Alois Schroll is also excited: “We are very happy that STRABAG has chosen our city as the location for its training center. For us it is important to continue expanding educational institutions as an integral part of our infrastructure and to offer young people and apprentices attractive framework conditions for their stay and leisure activities.
. “
Training gathered in one place
The STRABAG Austrian apprenticeship training was previously divided into two locations for reasons of space, at Ybbs there is now room for everyone: in addition to two industrial buildings, a separate apprenticeship quarter for up to 60 apprentices is being built, as well as a building for lessons, offices, events and catering. So that there is no boredom after work, a separate sports field and gym were included in the planning.
The location in Ybbs stands out, among other things, for important infrastructure advantages: on the one hand, the training center is easily accessible for trainees from all over Austria thanks to the immediate proximity to the train station and the stop on the route Westbahn. In addition, Ybbs has a highly developed network of associations with which collaborations are being considered to offer students attractive activities outside the workshop facilities in their free time.
