“The armed forces cannot manage a museum” – HGM in the cultural department
Vienna (OTS / SK) – The Court of Audit report on the Army History Museum published today only allows one conclusion for the SPÖ’s cultural spokesperson, Thomas Drozda: “The HGM has to leave the Ministry of Defense as soon as possible. The armed forces perform important tasks, but running a museum is not one of them. “Defense Minister Tanner’s claims that she wanted to implement the Court of Auditors’ recommendations now come” too late “for Drozda:” The train has gone, it has failed promised reform efforts for the HGM and should transfer the museum to the cultural department. “****
Drozda has long called for the HGM to be reconsidered in the context of the house of history. “It takes a completely new concept, a new administration, a new structure and a new departmental responsibility, and best of all as part of a federal museum reform based on the White Paper recommendations.”
In any case, what the Court of Auditors shows in its report is speechless. “It seems that the director of the Ortner museum has run the house as if it were his personal collection of devotional objects, has done business with himself and created his own clubs at the direction of HGM.” Now all these accusations apply, especially of criminal importance to enlighten.
