Snow fell in places up to 600 meters and surprised many drivers.

Deutschlandsberg / St. Kathrein am Hauenstein / Fischbach. Since Sunday night, winter has hit numerous top roads in Styria with snow greetings: In the Deutschlandsberg district, firefighters had to remove several fallen trees from the streets that could not carry the masses of wet snow. Not only Weinebenstraße (L619), but also local roads in the Glashütten area were not passable. The situation was similar in Schanz and in Alpl in eastern Upper Styria.

But it was not just the snow that caused the fire brigades to deploy in Deutschlandsberg, because the white splendor rained down in the valleys. In St. Peter im Sulmtal, pumping works were also necessary in cellars that were under water due to the high amount of rainfall.

The fire brigade from Fischbach (Weiz district) had to clear the Schanzsattel in the Mürz valley of fallen trees. Several inches of snow covered the road. The same image can be seen in neighboring St. Kathrein am Hauenstein. There, the Alpl was more than sugary: numerous vehicles got stuck and there, too, fallen trees blocked the road to Krieglach. The Sölkpass was completely closed due to snowfall.
