Social fraud, fake companies, moonlighting – the accusations against the mask manufacturer Hygiene Austria are not diminishing. Little by little the first employees speak, they seem “scared”.
One of the temp agencies that mask manufacturer Hygiene Austria works with has received a short-term allowance. “Interestingly, the company has obtained part-time work benefits several times for its employees and my surveys gave me the massive impression that pay for part-time work was possibly incorrectly extracted here,” said attorney Ulla Reisch, head of the bankruptcy of AD Job Assist GmbH handled, on Tuesday on ORF radio.
AD Job Assist GmbH has been bankrupt since the end of 2020. According to the bankruptcy “Wirtschaftscompass” was opened in mid-December. As the company registration also says, according to a notification from the tax authorities on January 21, 2021, AD Job Assist GmbH is a bogus company according to the Law Against Social Fraud.
Front company in Hygiene Austria?
Another Hygiene Austria partner, Steady Global Partners GmbH, has also been identified by the Ministry of Finance as a front company according to Section 8 of the Social Fraud Prevention Act, according to the “Economic Compass”. According to “Standard,” there are a total of four staffing service providers who have worked for the Lenzing-Palmers joint venture, some with low credit ratings and others without a license to hire workers.
When media reports about the mask maker began, the Chamber of Labor began investigating. Meanwhile, some employees who have worked as temporary workers at Hygiene Austria have been found, AK director Christoph Klein said on the sidelines of a news conference on Tuesday. These temporary workers have an appointment with the AK tomorrow Wednesday and they looked “scared,” Klein said. He is also in contact with the union, which is also investigating. Despite the size of the company, there is no works council, criticized Klein. After the investigation, hopefully in a few days you will be able to “talk queues”.
Suspicion of undeclared work
The Economic and Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (WKStA) is investigating Hygiene Austria, which had some of the crown protective masks made in China. In addition to the suspicion of serious commercial fraud, the Prosecutor’s Office investigates the suspicion of organized undeclared work. A week ago there were house searches at Palmers in Vienna and at the production site in Wiener Neudorf. Then the merchants removed the masks from the sale.
On Monday, Lenzing withdrew his managing director and his employees and accused the Palmers partner of preventing clarification. The listed fibers group announced that a chartered accountant, soon to be appointed by Lenzing, will take over the management of Lenzing’s shares in Hygiene Austria.
Palmers board member Tino Wieser rejects it all
The remaining managing director, Palmers board member Tino Wieser, in turn says that no one at Lenzing is taking off anymore. Wieser rejects the allegations that Hygiene Austria had employed undeclared temporary workers. They used three personnel supply companies and received statements from the tax and social security authorities every month to check whether all employees are correctly registered.
