After a fire in Lehener Park, Salzburg’s professional fire brigade was called back a few hours later in a fire in the state capital, this time in the Elisabeth-Vorstadt district.

Shortly after 12 noon, the Salzburg professional fire department was alerted to a fire in a room in the high-rise building on St.-Julien-Straße. Upon arrival, according to Fire Director Ortler, a “dubious picture of the situation” was presented to the emergency services: the apartment in question was open and the windows leading to the balcony had already burst.
“Minor explosions” in the house
From the outside, the emergency services attacked the fire with a revolving ladder, inside a respiratory protection team advanced with a high pressure pipe. “The corridor system was completely filled with smoke and there were minor explosions in the house during the fire attack,” says Ortler, describing the operation. The flames could also be seen on the balcony.

There was no one in the apartment completely smoky and burned. A little later a person was found on the 10th floor who was black with soot and smoke. Rescuers were also given a second person suspected of smoke inhalation.
Lehener Park connection?
Shortly after 1 in the afternoon there could be a “fire”. The affected apartment is ventilated on time and has to cool down so fire investigators can go to work. The background to the “minor explosions” and whether there is a possible connection to the incident in Lehener Park were initially unknown.

Lehener Park’s fire demons are still fleeting
A burning tree in the Lehener Park in the city of Salzburg last night called the professional fire brigade. However, according to the Florianis, such fires are not uncommon.
The professional fire brigade and the volunteer fire brigade were on duty with a total of 30 Floriani. During the fire operation, there were sometimes considerable traffic problems in the Lehener Brücke, St.-Julien-Straße and Gebirgsjägerplatz area.
